City To Host In-Person Conference Focused on Removing Barriers To Youth Success

Registration is open now for an in-person conference focused on removing barriers that impede on academic success, presented by the Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. PST. This is the eighth annual Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Conference, and this year’s theme is “The Power of Persistence: Removing Barriers to Sustain Impactful Work.” The conference will include national experts, legislators, school administrators, law enforcement, educators, social services providers, clinicians, advocates, and other community stakeholders.
Speakers and presenters include Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman; Councilman Cedric Crear; Councilwoman Olivia Diaz; Councilwoman Nancy Brune; Clark County School District Superintendent Jesus Jara; Derrick Anderson; Tiffany Ferrette; Thirdway Solutions; and many others. In addition, The Tyrone Thompson Yours in Service Award will be presented to Cecelia Gonzalez, the Public Service Award to North Las Vegas Police Officer Christopher Campbell and the Champion of Education Award to Keith Rogers.
The Las Vegas My Brother’s Keeper Alliance is a community collaboration, with three task forces that work to engage the community, promote optimal educational outcomes and improve law enforcement systems and programs.
